WIT monthly meeting
Monthly meeting focuses on welcoming new members, planning up-coming events, and sharing reports from the Working Group meetings and recent events. If you are interested in learning more about WIT, and sorting out how you can become involved in a way that interests you, this is great place to begin! Open to all. Bring a friend or two!
Greetings Transition-minded friends and neighbors,
I hope everyone is enjoying Springtime, and is celebrating ‘Earth Day’ – every day!
First up – a reminder that the April WIT general meeting is today – Monday April 17th at 7pm – THIS MONTH WE WILL MEET AT THE WOODLAWN LIBRARY – 2020 W.9th St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
If you won’t be joining us at the WIT meeting, and you find yourself in the Newark area, you might want to check out U. of DE’s ‘Science Cafe’ speaker – McKay Jenkins, who will be giving a talk based on his recent book: Food Fight: GMOs and The Future of the American Diet. Mon., April 17th, 5;30 pm – 7:00 pm.at the Deerpark Tavern, 106 Main St., Newark. Free and open to the public. Complimentary snacks will be served.
For those of you who want to ‘get your protest on’ – and send a loud message to the fossilized establishment – letting them know how you feel about the future of a fossile-fuel bases economy – there are still ‘seats on the bus(es)’ available for the April 29th Peaople’s Climate March – in Washington, D.C. Stand and be counted, seen, and heard! There is something awesome and hopeful about the first-hand experience of a gathering of such magnitude – knowing you’re part of a movement of millions of people, globally. The people really DO have the power. We need to remind ourselves from time to time (events like this are a great way to do that) – and more importantly to carry on with the daily work of Transitioning our society into the socially/economically just, sustainable, and carbon-free ‘more beautiful world we know is possible’. Sierra Club Delaware is organizing bus transport to and from the event ($35 per person, includes driver’s tip). Hurry and reserve your seat!
